What Should You Be Allowed to Talk to AI About? Enforcing AI Governance with Topic Guardrails
AI governance documents are everywhere. AI controls in production are rare. Most organizations have a policy that says the right things about responsible use, sensitive topics, off-limits topics and regulatory alignment. Almost none have a way to enforce any of it inside the AI systems their employees and customers actually use. This session is about closing that gap. It focuses on the implementation step that most governance programmes skip: turning written policy into topic-level controls. Controls written in the same language as policy that map cleanly to organizational requirements, and generate the kind of evidence that satisfies security teams and auditors without requiring engineering rework for every new requirement.
Jeremy Snyder, Co-Founder and CEO of FireTail, will walk through how AI governance teams are operationalising policy through topic guardrails today. The talk covers three realistic enterprise scenarios as the working examples: a customer-facing support agent, an internal employee copilot, and an employee using a public large language model. For each, the session will examine how topic policy is authored, where it is enforced, what the resulting evidence looks like, and how it satisfies obligations across the EU AI Act, NIST AI-RMF, OWASP LLM Top 10 and ISO 42001.Attendees will leave with a reference architecture for a policy-to-production AI governance programme, a set of worked policy patterns, and a clearer view of how to demonstrate AI compliance to a board, regulator or customer in 2026.
